Workshop Activities:

In this workshop, attendees will utilize and develop education tools and understand its potential for leadership development. Participants will explore the survey as an outreach tool and how it can serve as the basis for message development. Focus will then be spent on the art of brainstorming for the development of messages. Templates and sample materials will be shared as examples of the relationship. In this workshop, attendees will utilize and develop education tools and understand the difference between format selection and message recognition. And finally, the participants will complete an implementation plan to develop a new Claridad education tool in their community.

Claridad is a holistic approach to community education.  It combines the power of message recognition with program leadership development by linking the tools of peer educators (promotores) with community-based education recognition messages.

In this interactive, workshop, participants will acquire skills and techniques to create power in their community education by using dynamic and resourceful techniques to:

  • Enrich leadership development programs
  • Create message-recognition materials
  • Involve target audience in the development of community education
  • Improve the impact of health education
  • Develop peer outreach and staff leadership

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Oversee survey facilitation, analysis and message identification
  2. Access interactive tools to strengthen outreach and peer education programs
  3. Utilize a minimum of three templates to create HIV-focused education materials
  4. Design an education tool with community involvement
  5. Identify the benefits of peer outreach/leadership programs
  6. Document community knowledge and change
