ABSTINENCE- Refraining from sexual contact.
AIDS- Acquired immune deficiency syndrome. The end stage of HIV. Attacks the body’s immune system and leaves you susceptible to secondary, usually fatal diseases.
ANAL SEX- Putting penis into the anus/rectum.
ANTIBODIES- The army of germ fighters in your body.
ARC- AIDS related complex. A pre-AIDS condition caused by HIV that attacks the immune system and leaves the body susceptible to illness, though usually not fatal.
BISEXUAL- a person who is sexually attracted to both men and women.
BLOOD TRANSFUSION- A medical procedure that replaces or replenishes blood with the blood of a donor.
BODILY FLUIDS- Blood, spit/saliva, semen/cum, vaginal secretions.
CASUAL CONTACT- Things you do everyday with people shaking hands, hugging, talking to standing near, etc
CONDOM- A protective cover made of latex or animal skin that is placed over the penis to prevent semen from entering another’s body and to protect the penis from coming in contact with the partner’s body fluids.
CONTRACEPTIVE- Something used to prevent pregnancy.
DRY KISSING- No saliva swapping; cheek kissing.
HEMOPHILIAC- A person with a blood disorder that requires blood transfusions.
HETEROSEXUAL- A person who is sexually attracted to the opposite sex.
HIV- Human immunodeficiency virus- a virus that gets in the blood and weakens your immune system.
HOMOSEXUAL- A person who is sexually attracted to one’s own sex.
IMMUNE SYSTEM- Your body’s defense against infections. Everyone has one it’s what helps you fight colds, flu? It is made up of white blood cells and other germ fighters.
INTERCOURSE- An activity involving putting the penis in the mouth, vagina or rectum.
LATEX CONDOM- A condom that is made of rubber material not animal skin. It is the best protection against HIV.
MONOGAMY- Being in a relationship and having sex with only that person.
ORAL SEX- Mouth contact with the penis, vagina or anus.
OUTERCOURSE- Any intimate activity that does not involve putting the penis in the mouth, vagina or rectum.
PARAPHERNALIA- Equipment used with illegal drugs.
PEER PRESSURE- When all your friends are doing something and you feel they expect you to do the same. It’s usually pressure to do something you’re unsure of.
SAFER SEX- protecting fragile body parts (mouth, vagina, penis, anus/rectum) from touching semen, vaginal secretions or blood. That means always wearing a condom EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX intercourse or oral sex.
SEX- Anything that feels good to the two people involved.
SEXUALLY ACTIVE- Choosing to have sex with a partner.
SPERMICIDE- A chemical that kills sperm.
STI (sexually transmitted infections)- A disease that is spread by sexual contact.
WORKS- Needles or syringes used with IV drugs.
