The FEBCD Fund was developed in response to Creando Nuestra Salud, a Florida project coordinated by the Rural Women’s Health Project to educate farmworker women about the importance of early breast cancer detection.
Creando Nuestra Salud combines the use of community-developed fotonovela materials with the training of lay-health workers. These lay-health workers inform their community members about breast self-exams and other screening options.
The fund provides financial aid to women of farm working communities in Florida, in need of early breast cancer detection screenings, such as clinical exams, mammograms and breast biopsies.
